TESTING OF RCC HUME/SPUN PIPES
(Method of Testing as per IS 3597 1998, Second Revision)
To ascertain the quality of pipes, PSC Poles & chambers there are certain tests to be done. We have all the instrument and testing machines required for testing of pipes. All these machines and instruments are calibrated and tested regularly. For every lot of all sizes of pipes, we are regularly having our Test Plans like:
1. Three Edge Bearing Load Test
2. Hydrostatic Test
3. Permeability Test
4. Dimension Check
THREE EDGE BEARING LOAD TEST
RCC HUME PIPES
The test is conducted by applying load on the pipe through a jack until the pipe gets cracked. The pipe passes the test if the load conditions specified as per the IS specifications are satisfied.
HYDROSTATIC TEST
The test is conducted by applying water pressure from a pump to the pipe covered on all sides to find how much pressure the pipe withstands before it leaks. The pipe quality is approved if the tested pressure is compatible with the ISI specifications.
COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH TEST OF CONCRETE CUBES
For cube test two types of specimens either cubes of 15cm X 1 5cm X 15cm or 1 Ocm X 1 0cm x 1 0cm depending upon the size of aggregate are used. These specimens are tested by compression testing machine in our testing laboratory after 7 days curing or 28 days curing.
PERMEABILITY TEST
The permeability test when conducted is accordance with the method described in 3597 shall meet the requirement of final permeability, which shall not exceed 0.3 cubic cm as per IS 458:2003
DIMENSION CHECK
Dimension checking of every pipe is done by the steel scale and vernier caliper and measurement tape, Inner dia/ Outer dia, length, straightness of pipes are checked.
